Med en upprymd känsla drog jag upp dragkedjan på våtdräkten, kontrollerade allt igen, satte fast draglinan runt midjan och gick ner i vattnet. Den andra ändan av linan satt fast i min packpåse som skulle hålla min packning torr. Den flöt! Jag la mig på rygg och började min simning över till Kaninholmen. Allt var stilla och några förbipasserande på stranden som jag lämnade bakom mig stannade upp och tittade förundrat på mig och mitt paket som släpade ca 4 m efter mig. Det måste sett riktigt roligt ut!

Simma och campa – Swim-Camp
Det finns flera fina öar runt om i Stockholm som man bara kan komma till med båt eller kanot. En tanke började gro att jag borde kunna simma ut till dem med min packning på släp. Jag behövde ett bra ställe att testa det hela på och valet föll på Kaninholmen som ligger ca 100 m ut från stranden vid Ulriksdal. Stockholm Swim Run har lagt sin bana här och om man kan kombinera simma och springa så kan man väl göra detsamma fast med att tälta. Swim-Camping var fött!

Hitta lägerplats
Jag fortsatte att simma till den närmaste punkten rakt över och sen vek jag av österut och följde strandkanten tills jag hittade ett bra ställe att gå iland. Det hela gick över förväntan och på andra sidan bytte jag om och la allt blött i packpåsen. Med ryggsäcken på ryggen började jag sen att utforska ön efter en bra plats att slå läger på.Det fanns en perfekt plats på andra sidan ön ute på en liten udde.

Mina simgrejor hängde jag upp på draglinan mellan två träd innan det var dags att göra iordning min middag. Det vart ”Erik’s creamy beef stew” från Outmeals som är en mjukkonserv och riktigt god. Under tiden den värmdes så njöt jag av lite rökt renrygg som jag tagit med från fjällen.

Givetvis kaffe på maten med lite mintchoklad och en fin utsikt. Perfekt ljummen kväll och vindstilla. Vet inte hur länge jag satt där men jag somnade med ett leende och vaknade lika glad.

Nästa dag vaknade jag och solen sken.  Jag lagade till min frukost i absiden och gjorde iordning havregrynsgröt som jag blandat i lite av Persgårdens Muesli och lite kokosolja. Gott kaffe, ett hårdkokt ägg och en härlig utsikt vart pricken över i.


Jag stannade där ett par timmar innan jag packade ihop allt och gav mig ner i vattnet och simmade runt ön och tillbaka till fastlandet. Det här gav mersmak och jag kommer absolut att göra mer Swim-Camping!

Utrustning,  väder och vattentemperatur
Alla vattenaktiviteter är farliga och viktigt att förbereda sig väl. Hur långt ska jag simma? Orkar jag? Hur kallt är det? Ska jag använda fenor? Våtdräkt? Många viktiga frågor. Jag valde att ha en kort våtdräkt då vattnet var varmt och sen korta fenor för att kunna ligga på rygg och sparka mig över. Givetvis är det än bättre att vara fler än ensam. Glöm inte att meddela var du är och ha med mobiltelefon i en vattentät påse. Testa allt innan du ger dig ut och ta inga risker. Då är det bättre att hitta en fin plats på land och slå läger där.

 

Tre tips när du ska simma med packning

1. Packa allt vattentätt! Packningen ska vara torr och flyta. Inget roligt med en blöt ryggsäck eller skor när du ska vidare efter att du kommit upp ur vattnet. Dessutom en packning som sjunker är en direkt fara  då den blir en tyngd och kan dra ned dig! Packa därför allt i vattentäta påsar i ryggsäcken och inneslut därefter ryggsäcken i en stor vattentät påse, gärna färgglad så du syns. Behåll lite luft i den så märker du om den läcker och så får den bättre flytkraft. Testa att det verkligen är vattentätt hemma eller vid strandkanten.

2. Ha ca 4 m lina mellan dig och packningen. Bra med lite distans emellan dig och det du har på släp. Då undviker du att sparka på packningen eller stöta in i den när du stannar upp för att navigera. Tänk på att använda bra knopar så de inte går upp under simningen.

3. Använd den stora packpåsen för att packa blöta saker efter simturen . När du kommit iland har du en del blöta saker som du inte vill stoppa ner i ryggsäcken. Vänd den stora packpåsen som ryggsäcken låg i ut och in. Då hamnar den torra sidan utåt. Lägg i allt blött och förslut den så blir det enkelt att bära den eller fästa den på ryggsäcken utan att den blöter ner.
