 ”Congrats you made it! When I met you last year at the shop it was on list… Dream come true!”. Det var en av de första kommentarerna jag fick på en bild jag publicerade på Instagram efter att vi gått i mål på vårt fem dagar långa löparäventyr längst den högalpina leden GR20 på Korsika. 190 kilometer och 13 000 höjdmeter av kärlek till bergen och stigarna. 

Det är sanningen. Detta är verkligen en dröm som gått i uppfyllelse för mig! Den som skrev var en fransman som var inne och pratade med mig på Addnature när jag jobbade där ett kort tag förra våren innan min flytt norrut. Då var han precis i färd med att planera utrustning för sitt eget GR20-äventyr som han skulle genomföra i juli samma år. Vi pratade nischad, lätt löparutrustning och äventyrsdrömmar och jag avslöjade att GR20 stått på min önskelista ett tag innan jag önskade honom stort lycka till med löpningen. Då trodde jag nog att jag skulle springa själv så småningom eller kanske få med någon vän men i verkligheten blev det ännu bättre. Det visade sig att Viktor Winterglöd på Bonjour Trail hade satt ihop min drömresa.

Åtta tappra själar träffades på flygplatsen i Bastia, Korsika, den 22a juli 2017 för att springa hela GR20 under fem varma dagar i juli. En av de sista uppdateringarna vi fick från vår eminente guide Viktor inför resan var (förutom spännande dokument med höjdprofiler med mera) att vädret skulle bjuda på en ”stor ohotad sol”. Fem av oss tog sig hela vägen till mål.

Vad man pratar om på stigen? Förutom uppenbara löparämnen som skomodeller, bajs och lopp så hann vi beta av livet och döden, politik, livshotande sjukdomar, relationer, filosofi och religion – och så en väldans massa skratt!

De flesta som vandrar GR20 startar i Calenzana och går söderut mot Conca. Vi valde att göra tvärtom. Både för att det är roligare att möta människor och för att naturen i norr är än mer storslagen så Viktor tyckte att det skulle bli ett fint avslut. Med oss på ryggen hade vi bara det vi behövde för själva löpningen. Resterande del av bagaget (ett krispigt ombyte, flipflops och badkläder) hade vi ordnat transport för till vår slutdestination där vi skulle ta in på hotell.

”Bäst att göra det värsta först” kanske han tänkte, ett annat alternativ är ”här sker gallringen”. Hursomhelst så var denna dag den längsta både i tid, kilometer och höjdmeter. Direkt från en kall och regnig svensk sommar till varm och torr korsikansk bergsluft. 05:30 började vi knata från hotellet och upp till ledens start. Vi möttes direkt av storslagna vyer i soluppgången.

Skönt att blöta kepsen och nacken i de kalla bäckarna!

Tidiga morgnar med skön och sval luft och soluppgång över berg och hav. Då behövs det inte mycket mer och eventuella vadkramper glöms snart bort!

Scrambling! Vissa passager är brantare än andra och kräver lite stöd med händerna. På några ställen sitter fasta kedjor och vajer att hålla sig i.

Denna dag var det åskvarning och hårt väder i prognosen. Vi höll oss på tå och var beredda att ta oss ned en alternativ väg om det skulle behövas. Åskan höll sig på avstånd och vi var riktigt nöjda när vi nådde dagens högsta punkt.

Vi bodde i stugor och på hotell i bergsbyar längst med vägen.

Många fina djurmöten längst stigen. Dessa minihästar träffade vi i en dalgång näst sista morgonen på leden.

När man bär allt på ryggen blir utrustningen viktig. Bland oss fanns det många varianter av skor, stavar, ryggsäckar och övrig löparutrustning. Såväl jag som Viktor föredrar Ultimate Direction Fastpack 20 för denna typ av tur där man kan bära ganska lätt pga frånvaro av tält och kök med mera men ändå behöver ha med sig en del mat och förstärkningsplagg. Jag är supernöjd med mina Black Diamond-stavar. De har hållit i många år och är lätta och smidiga. På fötterna hade jag Inov8 Trailtalon som är luftiga och sköna och sitter riktigt bra på mina fötter. Dock är inte Trailtalon så slittåliga som min storfavorit X-Talon 212 så de såg ut som stryk när vi var klara för veckan.

GR20 – ”totally runable”

Visst ligger det något i att bergen är mer storslagna ju längre norrut man kommer. Vi hade svårt att slita oss under sista dagens sista etapp.


Veckans höjdpunkter? Det finns så många! De löpbara lövskogarna var en av dem. Nästan som södra Sveriges bokskogar! Dag två hade vi en sträcka på ungefär arton kilometer med nästan sammanhängande löpning, det är man inte bortskämd med på GR20. Sista dagen fanns en fin passage med blockterräng som mina medlöpare grymtade och stönade väldigt över men där jag hamnade i ett skönt flow av skuttande mellan stenar. Alla spännande kamvandringar och scramblingpartier är också klara favoriter. Det finns så mycket av allt på denna led. Den behöver helt enkelt upplevas. Så mycket berg på en så liten ö.
