Andra gången jag har varit här, det är väldigt svårt att beskriva känslan, när hela dalgången genomsyras av just den tävlingen. I år så storsatsade Salomon genom att ha sina bästa löpare på plats och det blev en leverans av sällan skådat slag. Som svensk blir man gul och blå ända in i själen av att på plats se och uppleva Mimmis och Emelies bragder.

För att göra en lång vecka kort så kommer här en summering, lika mycket för mig själv, när minnet börjar svikta från den här veckan.

Tisdag

Inledde med att Robin på TNT som även sedan sprang OCC hade kikat på en Kilianvideo och rekat en tur till Augille De varan, det tog mig inte många sekunder att bestämma mig för att hänga på och det blev en del enkel scrambling upp mot kammen till toppen och utsikten med Mt Blanc massivet i fonden var värt att skriva hem om.

Väl hemma i Chamonix var hettan nästa outlidlig och efter att ha spankulerat omkring bland de ca 200 utställartälten (tävlingar och leverantörer) var mina ben som gummi. Ett isbad skulle pigga upp. Floden som går genom Chamonix är strid och kall. Jag slog följe med Martin Bengtsson som skulle springa UTMB, vi hittade en en sidobäck och en smal cowboy med spretig mustasch gjorde oss sällskap i bäcken. Efter ett tag visade det vara den genomtrevliga amerikan Hayden Hawks som senare vann CCC. Livet är fullt av udda möten, det här var bara ett.

Onsdag

TDS 119 km 7 200 höjdmeter

Emelie Forsberg bjöd mig och Miranda, Alexander och Robin från TNT på hemlagade bananpannkor och jag följde sedan med som ”bodyguard” för att visa upp utrustningen, hämta upp nummerlapp och göra doping- och hälsokontroll. Har man 125 000 följare på Instagram och många av dom är just i Chamonix kan man räkna med viss uppståndelse…Jag vet inte hur många gånger Emelie fick stanna upp för att bli selfie fotograferad.

Tidigt på morgonen hade vår andra super swede Mimmi Kotka startat TDS i Courmayeur och livesändningarna som UTMB bjuder på via webb och app är nog bland det bästa jag upplevt. Det är livefilmare som springer med löparna i flera km, undrar hur rekryteringen ser ut? – Jo vill jobba för oss måste du kunna hänga Kilian i ryggen i 2 km…både uppför och nedför, helst på natten och inte sova något du heller.

Jag och Alex sladdar in i Les contamines med 10 sek tillgodo, hör jublet från alla åskådare och ser ryggen på Mimmi, vi lyckas springa med ett tag, sedan vecklar hon ut stavarna tittar sig bakåt och säger, grabbar, nej nu måste jag öka, vi ses i mål.

Det börjar bli mörkt, Mimmi Kotka har sprungit på nytt banrekord, hon kommer in i ett kokande Chamonix, tusentals åskådare är där för att hylla henne, Jag och Jenni springer efter genom folkvimlet klädda i Sverige tröjor och med svenska flagga. Får gåshud! Tack för uppvisningen Mimmi!

Torsdag

OCC 56 km, 3 500 höjdmeter

Spöregn, hela dagen. Uppe med tuppen och åker med vår franska teammanager Greg Voilet och fotografen Martina Valmassoi till starten av OCC i Orsieres, Schweiz. Emelie har inte sprungit såhär långt sedan sin korsbandsskada. Den här tävlingen är sk unsupported, inga assistenter tillåts, vi följer Emelie och resten av Salomonlaget från de få ställen som funkar med bil. Vi är inte ensamma, de smala alpvägarna korkas lätt igen av åskådare som vill se stjärnorna på nära håll.

Som sin vana trogen levererar Emelie på bästa tänkbara sätt och även här kommer Sverigeflaggan och gåshuden fram. Silverpeng för superesset från Härnösand.

– Jag körde en 1800 höjdmeter vertikal tävling i Norge för dryga veckan sedan, kanske inte bästa tänkbara uppladdning, men fantastiskt kul att det gick så bra här och att knät känns helt återställd sade Emelie.

Fredag

CCC, 101 km, 6 100 höjdmeter

Idag skulle nästa super svenska Kristin Berglund som bor i Österrike springa i Italien, Schweiz och Frankrike. Jag och hennes ”syster” från Nepal, den välkända, tokglada och spontanta Mira Rai skulle assistera Kristin runt banan på tre platser.

Att assistera, bara det är nästa värt ett blogg inlägg i sig. Man blir avprickad av funktionärer, får bara vara inne tältet 10 min innan löparen dyker upp, annars skulle aldrig logistiken fungera. Här dukar vi upp med vad vi tror Kristin vill ha. Hon kommer in, vi fyller på flaskor, mosar i henne energi och ser henne försvinna ut på berget igen inom loppet av några minuter. Kristin har varit skadad och är strålande glad att komma i mål runt midnatt som stark 11:a i ett ruggigt starkt startfält.

Jag missar såklart starten av UTMB som är kl 18.00 på kvällen från Chamonix. Kristin är fortfarande på banan då på väg in till Cham.

Lördag

UTMB 171 km 10 000 höjdmeter på under ett dygn!

”The queen of the course” det stämmer verkligen som organisation säger. Att runda Mt Blanc är episkt och just i år har startfältet aldrig varit bättre. Eftersom jag personligen känner Kilian är han såklart min favorit och jag sitter som klistrad framför datorn större delen av dagen.  Att han somras har sprungit/gått upp två gånger på Mt Everest och sprungit Hard Roc 100 miles med en axel som hoppat ur led verkar inte ha påverkat honom nämnvärt. Han går som en klocka. Om ni har sett bilder från Tour de France där åskådare kantar gatorna och hejar på så är det här motsvarigheten i bergen, snacka om pepp! Hans teamlöpare, vinodlaren och fransmannen Francois D´Haene går dock ännu snabbare och går först i mål på torget i Chamonix som verkligen kokar av känslor, glädje och kämpaglöd.

Det har varit en dag med regn, snö och riktigt tuffa förhållanden där ute. Medan vi i Salomon familjen firar att vi levererat på pallen i de flesta tävlingar under veckan, att vi har haft 1 20 0000 följare på Twitter, Facebook och Instagram så är de flesta löparna ute på banan ännu en natt för att försöka uppfylla sin mångåriga dröm att genomföra The queen of the course!
